Jammu: Pledging to make every engineering and technology student of this University a patent holder, Vice Chancellor of Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University (BGSBU) Prof Irshad A Hamal said that the project initiated by Government of India is very important to develop scientific skill among the future technocrats.
Addressing workshop, organised by University of Kashmir ’s TePP Outreach Centre in collaboration with BGSB University, Vice Chancellor said that the programme will help this University in a long way to create an awareness among the students to file patent and play their role in the technological development of the country. He appreciated University Science Instrumentation Centre (USIC) of KU for collaborating this workshop with Department of Electronics & Communication of BGSBU.
It is pertinent to mention here that patent play significant role in the overall development of the country and keeping in view the same, Ministry of Science & Technology’s Department of Scientific and Industrial Research (DSIR) sponsor aid for innovations in all over the country and in the state of Jammu & Kashmir, University of Kashmir’s TePP Outreach Centre is looking after the project. Registrar M.R. Choudhary and Special Secretary to Vice Chancellor Suneet Gupta was also present on the occasion.
To carry forward the activities, the workshop was initiated by Tilawat Quran followed by welcome address of Principal College of Engineering & Technology Prof. M. Asgar.
In the inaugural address, Prof G. M. Bhat, Director University Science Instrumentation Centre (USIC), University of Kashmir said that the main objective of the workshop is to sensitize students for latest developments and essential ideas of technopreneurship promotions. He said that the workshop will provide a way out for the students to file patents and play their role in creating innovations in India . He said that TePP project has now been changed as Promotion of innovation in Industrial and Small & Medium Scale Industry (PRISM) and under this project they provide financial help from Rs 1.5 lakh to 90 lakh. He said that any individual or small scale industry can approach them to get the financial aid for this purpose.
In the programme, there were three technical sessions in which Prof. G.M Bhat and Parvaiz Hasan of Kashmir University trained the students how to file patents. Mohammad Shukiel Dar, HoD Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering, Mir Aijaz Ahmad, Assistant Professor, Arshad Ahmad, Assistant Professor & Abdul Raqib Bhat, Lecturer coordinated this workshop while Mohammad Shukiel Dar presented vote of thanks.
