Srinagar, Dec 15: Demanding a probe in funding row of madrassas, president, Muhthidda Ulema Ahale Sunnat, Molvi Ghulam Rasool Hami today said that there should be proper inquiry into the matter.
Addressing a press conference here, Hami said, “It is true that fake Darul Ulooms have been provided Central Government grants through State Education Department. But we have never taken any money, even a single penny in past neither we don’t have any intentions to take in future.”
However, he asserted that those Darul Ulooms that have drawn amounts in ‘scandals and fake manner’ should be booked under law. Hami said that in case withdrawal of Rs. 5 crore is true, no hesitation should be made to take action against concerned persons and officials.
“It is the responsibility of government to conduct the full probe in the matter,” he added.
Hami reiterated his stand on the liquor row sparked by Union Minister Farooq Abdullah in which he had said that cinemas and liquor shops in Kashmir should be reopened. “We will not allow any conspiracy to happen against the Muslims of the Jammu and Kashmir. We will fight against it. Liquor should be banned as it is banned in Haryana and Gujarat ,” he said.“This is unfortunate that some vested interests are talking about those things which are un-Islamic.”
