NEW DELHI — Days after the horrifying killing of tourists in Pahalgam that sent shockwaves across the country, Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Tuesday revealed that all three militants involved in the attack have been killed in a high-precision operation carried out by security forces in Srinagar.

Codenamed Operation Mahadev, the mission was launched following specific intelligence inputs and brought together personnel from the Indian Army, CRPF, and Jammu and Kashmir Police. The three militants, believed to be directly responsible for the targeted killings, were tracked down and neutralised in the city, marking the swift conclusion of what officials termed a "priority-level" mission.

Speaking in Parliament, Shah did not mince words as he described the brutality of the Pahalgam incident. He said the assailants had coldly questioned tourists about their religion before opening fire, murdering them in front of their horrified families.

“This was not just a killing, it was an act of deliberate cruelty meant to terrorise and divide. The nation grieves with the families who suffered this unspeakable loss,” Shah told lawmakers.

He commended the swift and seamless coordination among the security forces, stressing that the government would not allow such targeted violence to go unpunished. “Let it be clear: those who choose the path of bloodshed will meet the might of the state,” he said.
