SRINAGAR — A tragic road accident in Ramban district of Jammu division resulted in the loss of at least 10 lives on Friday.

According to an official's statement quoted by a local news agency, the incident occurred when a passenger taxi veered off the Jammu-Srinagar national highway near Battery Chashma in Ramban area, plunging into a deep gorge.

Immediately following the accident, personnel from the Police, State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), and Civil Quick Response Team (QRT) in Ramban swiftly arrived at the scene to initiate rescue operations.

During the rescue operation, authorities recovered 10 bodies from the site of the accident.

Efforts are currently underway to ascertain the identities of the deceased individuals, with further proceedings initiated in light of the tragic event.
