
GANDERBAL — A dead body of a 24-year-old youth was fished out on Monday afternoon from a power canal near Satrina area of Kangan in central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district.
Locals told the news agency CNS that the dead body was recovered from the power canal in Kangan after being spotted by the locals. “After the strenuous efforts of the police and the locals, the body was fished out,” they said.
The deceased was identified as Rafaqat Ahmad Kassana (24) son of Bashir Ahmad, a resident of Hariganiwan, Kangan. It was also said that Kassana had been missing from his home since last Saturday.
An official said that after the retrieval of the dead body, it was shifted to SDH Kangan for medico-legal formalities.
However, the police have taken cognizance of the incident and registered a case in this regard with further investigation to be taken up.
