SRINAGAR — Militants have managed to give slip to security forces after a brief exchange of fire with the forces in Haripora area of Imamsahib in south Kashmir’s Shopian district.

An official told KDC that a joint team of Police, Army's 44 RR and CRPF launched a cordon and search operation on specific information about the presence of militants in the area on Wednesday evening.

He said that as the joint team of forces approached the suspected spot, militants fired upon them which retaliated, triggering an encounter.

"After a brief exchange of fire, the cordon was extended to nearby areas and a search operation was started, however, nothing was found in the area," he added.

After conducting searches for several hours, nothing was found and the operation has been called off, the officer added.
