The recruitment process has been delayed by 02 years for undisclosed reasons by J&K Public Service Commission. Though some reports suggest it is a decision of Higher education department citing UGC Regulations 2009 to confirm the educational eligibility of the Ph.D candidates; in accordance with the UGC Regulations for awarding Ph.D and appointments in the Higher education system published in The Gazette of India in 18 September 2010.
Inspite of the High Court order, giving permission in Higher Education Department, to conduct the recruitment process, there has been undue delay in the same.
Due to delaying tactics by the J&K Public Service Commission to fill the vacant posts of Assistant Professor in Institutions of Higher Education in the state, there is deficiency of adequate faculty and the basic standard of education in the state is suffering.
A delegation of NET/SET & eligible Ph.D candidates’ delegation told reporters that since 2013 J&K Public Service Commission has twice invited applications for the post of Assistant Professor, however, it is yet to conduct the exam and complete the process.
