Pulwama: Hon’ble Vice-chancellor, Prof. Nazeer Ahmad, SKUAST - Kashmir, Officers of the line departments and progressive farmers were present on the occasion, besides Prof. Afifa S. Kamili, Director Extension, Associate Director Extension, Heads of various divisions and Scientists of SKUAST-Kashmir and Programme Coordinators of different KVK’s.
Dr. Fayaz A. Misger, Programme Coordinator, KVK-Pulwama presented the annual report of the year 2015 which was highly appreciated by Hon’ble Vice-chancellor and Director Extension.
During the meeting, success story of an educated farm youth who has adopted integrated farming system under the technical guidelines of the KVK and generated employment not only for himself but for others also was visualized on the occasion.
Hon’ble Vice-chancellor has encouraged the practice and stressed to encourage the un-employed youth for establishment of such type of employment generating units.
Farmers discussed their problems and officers of the line departments also shared their field experiences with the scientists and provided feedback to the KVK for their solution.
Some progressive farmers of the area put forward some problems for which threadbare discussion were carried by scientists and for solving the problems, future strategies were taken into consideration.
Officers of the development departments presented their views for overall benefit of the farmers. The Hon’ble Vice-chancellor stressed to disseminate knowledge to the farmers about the techniques of grading and packing of apple, increasing in production of A grade apple and value addition of C-grade for enhancing their income.
Propagation of plant material of Almond and walnut and saffron corms for its popularization among the farmers on the basis of modern scientific line.
Director Extension assured the farmers that the activities of this KVK shall be geared up for the maximum benefit to the farming community. Meanwhile some booklets and folders were released and distributed among the participants.
