New Delhi: Bharatiya Janta Party on Tuesday demanded that Hari Niwas, situated at foot hills of Zabarwan mountain range, on city outskirts should be converted into a hospital.
In a statement here Kashmir’s BJP spokesman Khalid Jehangir said, “Immediate steps should be taken to vacate Hari Niwas as it has been occupied by the people who can easily shift back to their homes as flood waters have receded.”
Jehangir asked the state government to take immediate steps to convert Hari Niwas into a hospital as major hospitals in the city have suffered extensive damage in the floods. “If state government cannot do so let it make it clear, state unit of BJP will tie up with private players and make it functional within days. “
Jehangir said that inundated Press Enclave in city centre Lal Chowk needs immediate attention. “Government is deliberately not paying any attention towards getting the Press Enclave cleared as it knows that media will expose its failure and incompetence,” he said.
Jehangir demanded that immediate attention should be paid towards clearing the Press Enclave which was worst hit due to floods.
He expressed dismay over government’s failure to drain out water from Bemina and adjoining areas. “No heed has been paid towards the people residing in Bemina and other areas as they are not influential and don’t fall in VVIP category. Government should immediately get the water drained out from these areas,” Jehangir added.
He asked government to provide free ration and power to flood victims and asked the banks to waive off interests till people stabilize themselves.
