Srinagar: To assess the loss in various flood hit villages, Jamaat-e-Islami J&K’s delegation comprising of Naib Ameer Jamaat, Nazir Ah. Raina, Political bureau chief Adv. Zahid Ali and other senior members visited various flood hit areas of the Islamabad district and met the flood affected people and listened to their vows and expressed deep sympathy and solidarity with them on behalf of Jamaat Islami J and K and assured them of all possible assistance.
According to spokesman, the total loss of the residential houses in various flood affected villages of is as under:-
Bijbehara tehsil:-
Tullukhan: 30 houses collapsed, Subhanpora: 41 houses collapsed
Islamabad tehsil:-
Veeri: 5 houses collapsed, Larebal: 6 houses collapsed, Tachhloo: 41 houses collapsed, Urnhall Bala: 51 houses collapsed, Urnhall Paeen: 10 houses collapsed, Kanjigund: 53 houses collapsed, Alamdar colony: 1 house collapsed, Botengu: 14 houses collapsed, Showl: 74 houses collapsed, Sudsunu: 36 houses collapsed, Takia Bahramshah: 10 houses collapsed, Nowvathoo: 15 houses collapsed, Fatehpora: 7 houses collapsed, Dahruna: 5 houses collapsed, Khandipahri: 14 houses collapsed, Khanabal: 8 houses collapsed, Mahendikadal: 3 houses collapsed, Anchidora: 13 houses collapsed, Qazibag: 6 houses collapsed, Janglatmandi: 14 houses collapsed, Deva colony: 8 houses collapsed, Mirdantar: 10 houses collapsed, Hanjidantar: 3 houses collapsed, Armpora: 7 houses collapsed, Mirgund Khanabal: 5 houses collapsed, Khood: 3 houses collapsed, Seepin: 8 houses collapsed, Batapora: 5 houses collapsed, Monghall: 2 houses collapsed, Roohu: 5 houses collapsed.
Kokernag tehsil:-
Mati: 4 houses collapsed.
Shangas tehsil:-
Shergund: 8 houses collapsed, Aahoo: 5 houses collapsed.
According to spokesman, in addition to the vast damage caused to the above said area, hundreds of residential buildings have partially got damaged and thousands of other structures collapsed including cow sheds, rice stores and kitchens.
Spokesman further adds that in Sofshali, Kandiwara, Dahruna, Fatehpore, Shepora, Larkipora villages about one thousand kanals of agricultural land has been dashed away by the flood water of the river Bangi in the Kokernag and Dooru tehsils. Also thousands of feet of the river Jehlum bank has got eroded making the adjoining areas vulnerable.
“Thousands of apple and walnut got uprooted thereby causing innumerable loss to the farmers in addition to the loss to the thousands of acres of paddy land. The erosion of the river banks has also caused vast damage to these adjoining villages for which the ignorance and apathetic attitude of the government particularly the Flood Control department is responsible,” he adds.
Jamaat Islami expresses its deep sorrow over this huge loss of property to the people and demands effective measures for the immediate rehabilitation of the affected people.
