Srinagar: An Iranian delegation comprising of Aga Syed Hussaini and Aga Syed Muhammad Takki met Hurriyat leader Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and assured full support to the flood affected Kashmir, a statement issued by Hurriyat (M) said.
This, the statement said, is the first international delegation to visit the Valley after the devastating floods.
Informing the delegation about the loss of life and property, Mirwaiz said the international aid for the rehabilitation is need of the hour. He urged upon the delegation that a massive rehabilitation effort is needed on the lines of 2005 earthquake when International Agencies came forward to assist Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
Mirwaiz said he has already made appeals to the globally acknowledged financial institutions including Islamic Development Bank (IDB), Asian Development Bank (ADB) and World Bank to extend financial support in rebuilding flood ravaged J&K. He hoped that apart from, OIC and UN, the Islamic Republic Iran will also come forward to help the J&K.
