Srinagar: As a part of its Civic Action Programme, the Jammu and Police is organizing Pedal for Kashmir cycle race on September 6, which is expected to witness large participation of
local youth and cyclists.
This was disclosed by Additional Director General of Police (Armed) J&K, SM Sahai at a high level meeting held at Armed Police Headquarters today. The meeting was convened to discuss various arrangements with regard to conduct of
the national level event in a befitting manner.
Giving the details, Sahai said that the Cycle Race is expected to be participated by more than 1000 professional cyclists from all over the country
including Jammu and Kashmir, representing various educational institutions, NGOs and national level sports bodies and clubs.
The meeting decided that the Cycle Race would be started from Police Golf Course, Boulevard at 6.30 a.m. with three categories viz senior above 19 years, junior boys and girls under 19 years and sub-junior boys and girls under 12 years. It was also decided that cash prizes worth Rs. 5.50 lakhs would be distributed among the winners in all three categories on the conclusion of the event, a police spokesman said.
