New Delhi, Feb 17: Chinese mobile phone equipment manufacturer, Mogu is all set to enter Indian market under its own brand name. And it is likely to create a flutter in the market by launching a 5 inch Android phone powered by a 1 GHz processor just for Rs 2500 (may be little extra with taxes), which makes it not just cheapest phablet but also the cheapest Android phone in the country.
Mogu, in an e-mail said that they will launch their products first in Delhi and Mumbai and will bring in three products initially.The low cost phablet, called MoguS1, is based on a Samsung Galaxy design. The S1 will feature a 5-inch WVGA 800x480 display, single-core 1 GHz processor, 2 mega-pixel rear camera, VGA front, Bluetooth, GPS, WiFi and a 2000 mAh battery.
Mogu will also launch a mid-segment phone with 4.5 inch display and dual core processor, priced between Rs 7,000 to Rs 8,000. The most expensive handset of Mogu will cost around Rs 10,000 and will have a quad core processor and 13 megapixel camera.
While they have not informed us about the partnership they have for service and sales network in India, or the Android version these phones will be running on, at these price points they will be able to undercut pricing of all the brands available in India with a decent margin.
Mogu, which also supplies phones to many Indian brands, has already submitted the products to Indian customs for clearance, the company informed.
If they address the sales and service network fears well and if these phones perform as per their specification, they will be a runaway success.
