Srinagar, Feb 16: After remaining blocked for seven days, the mobile internet services were restored by state authorities in Kashmir valley, this evening.
The services were blocked following the hanging of Parliament attack convict Muhammad Afzal Guru, on last Saturday, in New Delhi’s Tihar jail.
However, Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited Services (BSNL) broadband was working normally.
The mobile internet is being restored in phases, as many subscribers complained that they were still ‘unable’ to access the internet.
Authorities in Kashmir region clamped curfew, and blocked the mobile internet following the Guru’s hanging - ‘fearing’ - it could fuel more protests.
Three civilians were killed, and dozens others, including government forces cops were injured in Kashmir since 09 January, Saturday, after Guru was hanged.
For three days, newspapers in the region stopped their publications following restrictions imposed by government. The news channels were also taken off the air.
