Srinagar: Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) on Thursday launched a month long campaign “Torch of Peace” at London city in United Kingdom where the 2012 Olympic Games are in progress. The campaign has been launched for the awareness of Kashmir issue.
According to a statement issued by the party, the campaign is led by many JKLF leaders and has gained momentum and thousands of people especially Kashmiri’s living in United Kingdom are participating in this campaign.
Campaigners have started driving vans with banners on them, around the Olympic venues and streets of London to highlight the Kashmir Issue. “The vans and vehicles have been decorated with colorful flags, hoardings, banners and photographs depicting the human rights abuses in Jammu and Kashmir and statistics about the martyred and disappeared people in Kashmir”, the statement said.
“There are well over 20,000 world media personnel present in London to cover the Olympic Games. The campaign will help the world to understand the Kashmir issue in its right perspective and also highlight the importance of respecting the peaceful and democratic struggle of Kashmiris”, the statement added.
