Srinagar, Dec 4: Chairman Peoples Conference and Hurriyat Conference (M) executive member, Bilal Gani Lone today said pro-freedom leadership should review their strategy for taking the ongoing movement to its logical conclusion.
Addressing a party workers meet at Zaloora Sopore, Bilal said leadership should bridge the disconnect created with the masses over the years. “Mainstream parties, whether it is National Conference, Peoples Democratic Party or others, have resources as well as Centre at their back. We need to have a comprehensive strategy, so that people don’t fall prey to their politics of deceit. It should be formulated keeping in view all the factors as well as our limitations,” he said.
Lone said sermons, media statements and sugar-coated phraseology over the unification from different quarters haven’t proved of any help in the past. “Let those who harp on unity first disband their individual parties, then go to the doors of others for unification. Otherwise, these utterances are just construed as publicity stunt,” he said.
Lone said although the grant of Most Favoured Nation by Pakistan to India is bilateral issue between both the countries, but it would have definitely negative impact on Kashmir issue. “We cannot arrest India-Pakistan from talking on their own affairs as well as Kashmir, but it depends on the local leadership how they will protect the interests of Kashmiris,” he said.
Bilal also added that leadership needs to prioritize the interests of Kashmir rather than Pakistan or India. The PC chief also added Hurriyat needs to reach out to the people of entire state to prevent the mainstream parties from exploiting masses and added that today’s meeting was part of workers contact program started by the party.
