Srinagar, Nov 25: Hurriyat Conference (M) Chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq Friday said a committee has been formed, after the reliable reports of conversion to Christian, to discuss different issues and formulate the action plan to counter the conversions.
“No one can deny that there are number of people who are living below poverty line, which force them to take extreme steps like conversions. So there is a need to take serious steps to look after such people,” Mirwaiz told a Friday congregation at historic Jamia Masjid here.
While stressing on strengthening the Bait-ul-Maal system in the valley, he said, “We should take care of the poor and destitute through Islamic financial system.”
He appealed to religious preachers and Ulema to perform their duties.
