Srinagar, Nov 25: After the arrest of a pastor of the All India Saints Church C M Khanna by police for alleged forcible conversion of youths to Christianity, the Sharia court in Jammu and Kashmir has summoned some professors of Kashmir University (KU) for their involvement.
The professors have been directed to appear before the court on November 30.
Pastor Khanna was arrested on November 19 after he admitted to have converted some Muslim and a Hindu youth into Christianity in the Kashmir valley, evoking massive protests by separatists and Muslim Ulemas.
Pastor Khanna was also summoned by Sharia court headed by Grand Mufti of the Jammu and Kashmir Mufti Bashir-ud-Din after a video surfaced here last month in which he was allegedly shown baptising at least six Muslim and one Hindu youths.
Sharia court officials said initially the Pastor denied converting any youth, but admitted to it after he was shown evidence.
On the basis of admission by Pastor Khanna, some KU Professors were summoned by the court.
He has reportedly told the court that these professors played a role in conversion of boys and girls into Christianity in the valley.
The court has issued summons to these professors to appear before it on November 30.
Meanwhile, Khateebs and Ulemas today demanded stern action against all those found involved in the conversion of Muslim youths into Christianity.
Addressing Friday congregation in different mosques and shrines today, they appealed to the people to watch the activities of their children and outside organisations working in the valley.
