Srinagar: United Jihad Council chairman and Hizb-ul-Mujahideen supremo Syed Salahuddin Tuesday appealed pro-freedom leaders to remain away from any type of bilateral dialogue with New Delhi.
“I appeal both factions of Hurriyat Conference and other pro-freedom groups to remain away from bilateral dialogue process with New Delhi. Government of India has never shown any sincerity to resolve Kashmir through dialogue,” a vernacular news agency KNS, quoted Salahuddin as having said.
“We are not fanatics and we don’t oppose dialogue. But until both Kashmiris and Pakistan aren’t part of dialogue process it won’t yield anything. India is trying to mislead the world community in the garb of dialogue process,” he alleged. The Hizb Supremo said that time had come when there was need for a state wide movement both at political and militant fronts. “To force India to fulfill its promises made with the Kashmiris, we have to struggle at political and militant levels,” he said.
He revealed that during Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s tenure as Prime Minister, Hizb had been approached twice for ceasefire. “We had been approached for unconditional dialogue and unilateral ceasefire by India twice during Vajpayee’s tenure,” said Salahuddin.
Commenting on GOC 15-Corps, Lt Gen Syed Ata Hasnain’s recent statement that there were 600 militants waiting to infiltrate from Shamsabari range, he said, “On one hand they (Army) claims that militancy has died down in Kashmir and on the other they say militants are coming. Let me tell you that we can revive our attacks in any part of the state within 24-hours,” he added.
Rejecting the recent report of Center’s interlocutors on Kashmir, the UJC chairman said, “It is a joke. Only aim of such reports is to give credibility to Indian rule in J&K.”
“An impression has been created by interlocutors that Kashmir is issue of governance, unemployment and corruption which is a useless exercise. Everybody knows what Kashmiris want,” he added.
The Hizb Supermo again advised the separatist forces in JK to unite. “Re-unification of Hurriyat has become inevitable in the larger interests of the movement. We will continue our efforts to see Hurriyat becoming one again,” he added.
Commenting on attacks on JK police personnel, Salahuddin said,“They are sons of our soil, but under a pre-planned conspiracy they are being used against Mujahideen. Now attacks on police have become inevitable.”
“As soon as JK police started operations against Mujahideen network of Mukhbiri (source) improved and Mujahideen had to bear huge losses,” he revealed.
The UJC chairman distanced himself from recent Delhi blasts. “India is trying to defame just struggle of Kashmiris by blaming them for terror attacks. In this garb innocent Kashmiri students are being targeted in various states of India,” he said.
On former Prime Minister of Pakistan-administered-Kashmir Barrister Sultan Mehmood’s recent visit to Kashmir, he said, “He had no mandate from Government of Pakistan and it was his personal visit. He had no mandate to talk about Kashmir.”
