Srinagar: Over 4,000 municipal employees of Jammu and Kashmir Tuesday continued with their strike for the twelfth day, demanding payment of wages as per the revised rules.
'All the 17 urban municipal bodies are non-functional. We have been striking since October 7. We have not been paid wages as per the revised rules since 2008 when the department of urban development was re-organised,' said a representative of the protesting employees.
Scores of protesters raised slogans against the authorities at the Press Enclave Residency Road here.
Urban development department officials maintain that many municipalities have made illegal appointments, which has created the problem of wages.
