Pulwama: The three-member team of interlocutors, mandated to find a political solution of the Kashmir issue, Tuesday visited Pulwama and held deliberations with many apolitical groups that included Sumo drivers and Chowkidars belonging to the district.
The groups they met included Sumo Association Tral and Rajpora, Youth Welfare Forum Tral, Numbardar and Chowkidar Association, Saffron Growers Association, Hindu Welfare Society, Syed Moosa Women’s Development Society and Social Workers Committee Kashmir.
Talking to media persons after the meetings, chief interlocutor Dileep Padgaonkar said they were ready to meet both the factions of Hurriyat Conference provided the groups are willing to come forward.
Terming the efforts of political settlement of Kashmir issue as the main interest and mandate of interlocutors, Padgaonkar said the team on very first instance had announced to meet all stakeholders of Kashmir to which, he said, the separatist leaders have not yet reciprocated.“Due to the compulsions and conditions the Hurriyat leaders have not come forward for talks,” Padgaonkar said.
He added nobody either from interlocutors or the separatists must lay pre-conditions for talks.“Let the dialogue commence with four and five points laid by Hurriyat factions,” Padgaonkar said.
He said the discussion on political settlement of Kashmir has been held with many mainstream organizations and civil society and the team is ready to held deliberations with Hurriyat factions as well. He further said that Kashmir issue is being called as “issue”by one group and “dispute” by another while others put a question mark on the same.
He said the aspirations of all the three regions are also different and each aspiration needs to be addressed to reach to a resolution. He said that interim report shall be released by the team within three weeks. Replying to a question on importance of dialogue with Pakistan, Padgaonkar said dialogue is going on at this stage but the interlocutors are not included in that process. Padgaonkar said the interlocutors have visited 17 districts during last seven months and met some 500 delegations and praised the people of the state for ‘disclosing their inner with clear heart.’He further said that many issues raised in meetings by delegations belong to day to day problems of common man in the state. He said that aspirations of each region shall be brought under one umbrella to reach to a consensus.
