Srinagar: Chairman All Parties Hurriyat Conference Syed Ali Shah Geelani has strongly denounced his illegal house arrest by the authorities to prevent him from taking part in Hazratbal rally here on Friday. The rally had been held to seek release of Kashmiri detainees.
The spokesperson had accused the puppet Chief Minister Omar Abdullah for putting Syed Ali Geelani under illegal house arrest, adding that the occupation authorities have already tried to foil the rallies at Shopian and Islamabad by keeping the veteran Hurriyat leader under house arrest and imposing undeclared curfew in these areas.
He said that the establishment turned the Geelani’s residence into a prison and imposed restrictions on his activities, adding that he is not allowed to offer prayers in Masjid as well as to meet people.
The spokesperson said that the authorities had banned all political activities in the occupied territory of Kashmir. Moreover, pro-freedom leaders had been kept behind the bars under draconian laws.
