Sydney: A Sydney teenager has been forced to cancel her 16th birthday party after it went viral on the internet.
A page on Facebook made all of the details public, including her home address and phone number.
The event was flooded with interest, with a reported 200,000 people clicking the 'attend' button on the Facebook event page.
The Sydney Morning Herald said the girl cancelled the online invitation but it was soon re-created by another person posing as the teenager.
The new invite copied all the original details thereby republishing the teenager's personal details.
The 15-year-old girl has reportedly been inundated with phone calls and messages from strangers.
Her parents told the Daily Telegraph that she was just an 'innocent victim' who didn't know how to properly manage her privacy settings.
The page was removed around 5:30 am (IST) today.
The local police station has been contacted in regards to the events.
