JAMMU — Authorities have announced summer vacations in colleges of Jammu division of the UT from June 14.

As per the order of Principal Secretary Alok Kumar, summer vacation in colleges of the Jammu zone will be from June 14 to July 28.

"It is hereby ordered that Government Degree Colleges of the UT of J&K falling under Summer Zone (Jammu Division) shall observe summer vacations w.e.f. 14 06-2024 to 28-07-2024," reads the order issued in this connection.

SRINAGAR — Amid the heat wave, the Directorate of School Education Jammu (DSEJ) on Tuesday ordered summer vacation for all government and private schools from June 1 to July 16 in summer zone areas of the region.

According to the news agency KNO, DSEJ in an order said, “All the government and recognised private schools falling in summer zone of Jammu Division shall observe summer vacation from 01-06-2024 to 16-07-2024.”

The directorate further ordered that all teachers shall remain available for any online guidance of students during the vacation period.

“Any default on the part of the head of the school or teaching staff in observance of the above schedule shall attract action under rules,” DSEJ said.

SRINAGAR — The government is likely to announce summer vacation in Jammu and Kashmir schools in the wake of the prevailing heat wave.

The local MeT has said that there will be no let-up in temperatures, at least till Thursday.

Jammu recorded a temperature of over 42 degrees Celsius while the mercury is also on the rise in Kashmir Valley.

Parents, particularly in Jammu Division, have appealed to the Directorate of School Education to declare summer break in the interest of the school-going children.

Meanwhile, an RTI activist from Jammu, Raman Sharma has filed a petition in the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), seeking a declaration of summer vacations in Jammu and Kashmir educational institutions.

Mr Sharma’s petition, as per the news agency KNT, has urgently called for the declaration of summer vacations in schools to safeguard the health and well-being of school-going children.

The RTI activist in a request to the NHRC has highlighted the distressing impact of the relentless high temperatures on school-going children and has pointed out that many schools lack adequate cooling facilities, turning them into oppressive environments that pose significant health risks such as dehydration, heat exhaustion, and heat strokes.

SRINAGAR — The Jammu and Kashmir Higher Education Department on Thursday announced summer vacation for all government degree colleges of Kashmir Division and Winter Zone areas of Jammu Division from July 15.

According to the news agency KNO, Principal Secretary of Higher Education Department, Alok Kumar said, “All the government degree colleges in the Kashmir Division and Winter Zone of Jammu Division shall observe summer vacation from 15-07-2023 to 24-07-2023.”

SRINAGAR — The government on Saturday announced summer vacation for all government and private schools of Kashmir division from July 1 to July 10.

"All the government educational institutions and recognized private schools up to higher secondary level functioning in the Kashmir division shall observe summer vacation from July 01 to July 10," the Director of School Education Kashmir said in an order.

SRINAGAR — The Jammu and Kashmir School Education Department on Friday announced summer break for all government and private schools of Jammu division from June 8 to July 22.

According to the news agency KNO, Director of School Education Jammu (DSEJ) said that all the government and recognized private schools falling in the summer zone of Jammu division shall observe summer vacation from June 6, 2023 to July 22, 2023.

The director further ordered that all teachers shall remain available for any online guidance of students during the vacation period.

SRINAGAR — The University of Kashmir (KU) is all set to announce summer vacations in main and satellite campuses from July 23.

As per the news agency Kashmir News Observer, the vacations are slated for nine days from July 23.

Top officials of the varsity said that the vacations will begin on July 23. “However, the examinations slated during the vacation period will be held as per the schedule.”

SRINAGAR — Authorities on Friday announced summer vacations for all government degree colleges of Kashmir division and winter zones of Jammu division from July 9.

As per the news agency Kashmir News Observer, the vacations are scheduled from July 9 to July 17.

Principal Secretary, Higher Education Department, Rohit Kansal in order said, “All government degree colleges of Kashmir division and winter zone government degree colleges of Jammu division shall observe summer vacations with effect from July 9 to July 17.”

PULWAMA — Authorities at the Islamic University of Science and Technology (IUST) Awantipora announced on Monday that all departments of the varsity will be taking summer breaks beginning on July 6.

A spokesperson from the IUST said that the summer vacations are scheduled from July 6 (Wednesday) to July 13 (Wednesday).

However, the official claimed that the university will continue to run properly with just classwork being closed.

It is in place to mention here that the eight-day summer break will also include the holidays which were to be observed on Eid al-Adha on July 10 and 11.

SRINAGAR — The School Education Department on Saturday announced summer vacations in Jammu region from May 23.

According to the news agency Kashmir News Observer (KNO), the Director of School Education Jammu in a communique has said, “In view of the prevailing hot weather conditions, it is hereby ordered that all the government educational Institutions and recognized Private Schools shall observe Summer vacation.”

The communique states that up to the 8th standard, the vacations are slated from May 23 to July 9 and for classes 9th to 12th, the vacation is slated from May 30 to July 9.
