SRINAGAR — Senior political leader Imran Reza Ansari on Monday expressed deep grief over the reported killing of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and appealed to the Shia youth of Kashmir to observe mourning with dignity, restraint and responsibility.
Ansari said the community was in acute shock and grief, describing the development as a moment of collective sorrow felt by Shias and admirers across the world. He termed the loss deeply emotional and said sentiments must be expressed in a disciplined and peaceful manner.
He urged youth to hold Majlis, Marsiya recitations and mourning gatherings within their respective Imam Bargahs and local areas, advising that expressions of grief should remain confined to designated spaces. He cautioned against allowing emotions to be misused in any manner that could harm communal harmony.
Ansari further appealed to the public to adhere to any notifications issued by the administration, stating that discipline is an integral part of religious mourning. He also urged Jammu and Kashmir Police to continue exercising restraint while handling the sensitive situation, acknowledging what he described as commendable conduct by law enforcement.
He concluded by calling for unity, patience and responsibility during the mourning period, stressing that peace must be maintained while respecting the sentiments of mourners.
