
JAMMU — A Special Police Officer (SPO) was among two persons arrested with narcotics in Udhampur and Kathua districts of Jammu and Kashmir, a police spokesperson said on Wednesday.
The police said a team on patrolling duty near Phangyal area of Udhampur town intercepted a suspicious person, who, on seeing the police team, tried to escape but was apprehended.
On frisking, the accused, identified as Vishal Singh, who is posted as the SPO at DPL Udhampur, 5.64 grams of Heroin were recovered from his possession. Singh is a resident of Shakti Nagar, Udhampur.
Police said that in a separate incident, one drug peddler was arrested with 2.410 kg of Ganja at Galak in Ramkot area of Kathua district.
The police said they intercepted a person at a checkpoint in Ramkot area. The suspect was coming from Dayalachak on foot. The suspect was identified as Naresh Kumar of Dharasiv tehsil, Chhattisgarh.
He gave his present address in Hiranagar, district Kathua. During the search, 2.410 kg of Ganja was recovered from his possession.
Police said cases under relevant sections have been registered and investigation taken up.
