SRINAGAR — Choudhary Zulfikar Ali, a well-known Gujjar leader and former minister, joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) today, marking a significant political shift ahead of the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly elections.

Zulfikar Ali, who has previously been part of various political parties including the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), met with Union Home Minister Amit Shah in New Delhi on Saturday.

During the meeting, Zulfikar Ali discussed several key issues affecting the Rajouri and Poonch districts, as well as the broader political landscape of the region. He shared details of the discussion in a post on X.

Throughout his career, Zulfikar Ali has served in important roles, including as Cabinet Minister for Food Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs as well as Tribal Affairs. His move to the BJP is seen as a strategic shift that could impact the political dynamics in Jammu and Kashmir ahead of the upcoming elections.
