SRINAGAR — Five individuals have been booked under the Public Safety Act (PSA) for engaging in anti-national activities in Baramulla district and subsequently placed in different jails, according to a statement from a police spokesman on Monday.

The statement emphasized the authorities' commitment to taking strong action against those involved in activities deemed detrimental to national interests.

The individuals identified as Asif Ali Bhat, Mohammad Yaqoob Bhat, Waseem Mehraj Farash (known as Waseem Farash), Bashir Ahmad Sualiah, and Bilal Ahmad Dar (known as Shakir) were apprehended following formal detention orders from the competent authority.

"They have been detained and subsequently lodged in District Jail Udhampur and Central Jail Kot-Balwal Jail Jammu," the statement clarified.

The police statement highlighted that the individuals had been involved in various incidents disrupting law and order and engaging in subversive activities. Despite facing multiple FIRs, they persisted in their anti-national and anti-social activities.

Further details regarding the specific nature of their alleged offences were not provided in the statement.
