SOPORE — A tragic incident unfolded in the Sopore area of North Kashmir's Baramulla district on Sunday afternoon, claiming the life of a minor boy while another was successfully rescued after the pair fell into a rivulet.

According to an official quoted by a local news agency, the incident occurred when two boys from Mundaji Sopore were en route to a mosque for a congregation and accidentally slipped into the rivulet coursing through the area.

Swift response from rescue teams facilitated the immediate evacuation of the boys from the rivulet. However, Saqib-ul-Khair, one of the boys, was found in an unconscious state and rushed to a nearby hospital. Tragically, medical personnel declared him dead on arrival.

Confirming the fatality, a medical official said that the boy had already succumbed before reaching the hospital.
