SRINAGAR — The Christian community on Monday celebrated Christmas with religious fervour amid dense fog and freezing temperatures in Kashmir Valley.

The main function was held in the Catholic Church at Maulana Azad Road, Srinagar, where many members of the community attended the mass prayers.

Men, women, and children participated in the prayers. The Muslim brethren greeted them throughout the day.

Christmas is an annual festival commemorating the birth of Jesus Christ (Esa), observed primarily on December 25 as a religious and cultural celebration among Christians worldwide.

At ski-resort Gulmarg and Baramulla, the Christian community visited the church and offered mass prayers.
