SRINAGAR — At least seven shops were gutted in a fire incident in Maisuma area of summer capital Srinagar on Friday morning, incurring massive losses to the shopkeepers.





An official told the news agency KDC that a fire broke out in a shopping complex owned by Khurshid Ahmed Dar in which six shops were gutted completely while one shop suffered partial damage.





One of the affected shopkeepers said that the fire broke out at 3:30 AM that was put out by firefighters with the help of police and locals. "Four shops were gutted on the first floor while the rest of the three shops were damaged on the 3rd floor of the complex," he said.





“The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained, however, no loss of life or injury was reported in the incident,” the official said.





Srinagar Police in this regard have registered a case and started an investigation to ascertain the real cause of the fire.
