ANANTNAG — The land acquisition drive on part of the government triggered a protest in Larnoo area of south Kashmir’s Anantnag district.

People in hundreds living in far-off areas, mostly from the tribal community, participated in the protest. They denounced the government policy of evicting people from the land, terming it an injustice and anti-human.

Notably, the government has ordered people to evict from the alleged state land by January 31 this month. The diktat from the government has created widespread protests while politicians have expressed resentment, asking the government to reconsider the decision.

The protest that was led by tribal leaders urged the LG administration to roll back the order, saying that it will render thousands of people homeless in this chilly season.

Meanwhile, the drive to evict people from the state land is underway in every district.
