SRINAGAR — Three Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) militants including Lateef Rather were killed in an encounter at Waterhail area of central Kashmir's Budgam district on Wednesday, officials said.

Additional Director General of Police Kashmir Vijay Kumar confirmed that Lateef Rather alias Osama was among three LeT militants who have been killed today at Budgam.

As per ADGP, Lateef Rather was involved in killing of Rahul Bhat, Ambreen Bhat and several other civilians.

The encounter happened after the police launched a cordon and search operation in Waterhail area of the district following a specific input about the presence of militants there.

He said the search operation turned into an encounter after the hiding militants fired upon the forces.
