
SRINAGAR — Jammu and Kashmir Police on Wednesday said that two local militants of Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) surrendered during a live gunfight in south Kashmir's Kulgam district.
A spokesman of J&K Police said, "During the encounter, two local militants surrendered on the appeal of their parents and police. Incriminating materials, arms and ammunition has been recovered."
Another senior police officer, according to news agency GNS, said that both the slain local LeT militants had joined militancy a week before.
Earlier, the encounter broke out between the militants and security forces in the Hadigam area of Kulgam.
