SRINAGAR — Militants on Wednesday managed to slip away from an encounter in south Kashmir’s Kulgam district. An Army soldier was also injured in the predawn encounter.
As per official sources, the encounter ensued after a joint team of Police and Army launched a cordon-and-search operation in Baryihard Kathpora area of the district.
As the joint team moved towards the suspected target, the hiding militants opened fire which was retaliated, triggering off an encounter.
In the initial exchange of fire, a soldier was injured and subsequently evacuated to the hospital.
However, there was a lull as no fresh exchange of fire took place later, the officer said.
