
BARAMULLA — A local Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) militant was killed in an encounter that broke out on Saturday night between security forces and militants in Binner area of Baramulla district, police said on Sunday.
A police officer, as per news agency KNO, said that the slain militant has been identified as Irshad Ahmad Bhat of Pattan, Baramulla. He was active since May 2022 and was linked with the LeT militant outfit.
The officer further said that incriminating materials including arms and ammunition were also recovered, which include one AK-47 rifle and two magazines.
On Saturday morning, a newly recruited Jaish-e-Muhammad (JeM) militant was killed and three security personnel were injured in an encounter in the same district.
Meanwhile, in another operation, security forces arrested one LeT hybrid militant in Ashtangoo area of Bandipora this morning.
The arrested militant, as per officials, has been identified as Gulzar Ahmad Najar, a resident of Anantnag.
