SRINAGAR — Amid the power paucity in Jammu and Kashmir, the Kashmir Power Distribution Corporation Limited (KPDCL) has claimed that the previous year’s electricity demand in July at the national level has already crossed yesterday in wake of the increasing demand this year due to the early summer.

The Corporation has said that the power scenario is unlikely to improve and also that nothing can be stated at present.

Talking to the news agency Kashmir News Observer (KNO), Chief Engineer, KPDCL said that last year’s record in July of two lakh megawatts at the national level has already crossed yesterday due to the early arrival of summer this year.

“The demand and supply gap is the outcome of the present power scenario. There is no availability of electricity at present. Nothing can be stated about how long the situation continues,” he said.
