Srinagar: Police have arrested two persons for ferrying construction material including readymade panelling designs to green belt Pahalgam area of South Kashmir’s Islamabad district.
Sources told CNS that a joint team from Pahalgam Development Authority and JK Police after intercepting two private vehicles near Pahalgam found construction material including wooden panelling designs in them. Both the vehicles including the material was seized and the duo were detained in police station Pahalgam who admitted that they were carrying the material for their private hotel located in green belt area of Pahalgam.
Station House Officer Pahalgam Tariq Ahmed Khan while identifying the culprits as two brothers Zubair Naikoo and Shabir Naikoo said that besides panelling designs and plywood they also seized the two vehicles bearing registration number JK03B/960 and JK01M/8515. “A case vide FIR number 7/2016 under section 188 RPC has been registered and both the accused are in custody,” he said.
Pertinently, High Court has imposed a blanket ban on constructions and renovation in green belt area of tourist resort Pahalgam. (CNS)
