Pulwama: Thousands of people from across Pulwama town and surrounding villages Thursday participated in the funeral procession of a local pro-freedom militant who along with a Pakistan national was killed in a gunfight with Security forces early morning.

Manzoor Ahmad of Aelichibagh, Samboora in the district had joined the Lashkar-e-Toiba about seven months ago, an official said. Ahmad, along with an unidentified Pakistan national, were trapped inside a house in Goosu village late evening on Wednesday.

Ahmad’s body was handed over to his heirs for last right in Samboora, while the body of the foreign national was taken to Boniyar ‘martyrs’ graveyard – about 150 kilometers from the spot of gunfight.

Meanwhile, a complete shutdown is being observed in the district after the death of the militants.
