Addressing a press conference, MQM leader Farooq Sattar criticised PPP Patron-in-Chief Bilawal Bhutto Zardari for issuing controversial remarks regarding MQM and MQM Chief Altaf Hussain recently and said that his party had decided to part ways with the PPP-led governments in Sindh and AJK, adding that the decision was final and that there was no going back now. He said resignations of members would soon be sent to the AJK prime minister. “Our patience has run out,” he added.
“We have tolerated a number of antics and inadequacies...but things have come to a head now...it is no longer possible for us to be in an alliance with the PPP,” Sattar said.
He said that the PPP has a long history of having discriminatory and non-democratic attitude with the MQM. He lambasted Bilawal Bhutto who, according to him, opened several fronts at once on the very first day of launch of his political career.
He questioned Bilawal’s political credentials and credit to lead a political party. “A person cannot be a Bhutto scion who starts his political career with hate speech, confrontation and mudslinging,” Sattar added.
The MQM leader said that the language used by Bilawal against MQM Chief Altaf Hussain had taken the situation to a point of no return, adding that the absence of an apology on part of either the PPP chief or Asif Ali Zardari didn’t help matters.
“This is not a Bhutto legacy,” he said, adding a true heir to a Bhutto can only be a Bhutto and not Zardari. He maintained that the MQM had always worked for the supremacy of law and constitution.
