Srinagar: Yasin Malik, Chairman Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front, Wednesday alleged that India was hoodwinking the international community by what he called “imposing forced normalcy in Kashmir”.
He said that Government of India and “its puppets” in the valley failed miserably to compensate flood survivors.
He made these utterances while distributing flesh of animals offered as a sacrifice on Eid-ul-Adha with flood survivors in various areas of the city, including Maisuma, Mandir Bagh, Abi Guzar and Chinar Bagh.
Malik was arrested before Eid prayers on Monday morning and released later in the evening.
He was scheduled to take part in Eid prayers organized by various trade bodies and businessmen to appeal international community to come forward to help the Kashmiris, a party spokesman said.
By banning a peaceful gathering of prayers that was proposed by the devastated traders and residents of flood-hit areas, Malik said, Indian authorities were interfering in “our religious affairs”.
