Srinagar: In a significant move, the Coaching Centres Association of Kashmir (CCA) has announced the start of free crash course to complete their syllabus and a free book bank for students from flood-affected areas.
To be able to qualify for these coaching classes, the students have to fulfill just one criteria of getting written statement from the local Imam attesting that they have been affected by the floods. “To prevent the misuse of these classes by non-deserving candidates, the aspiring students need to get in writing about their situation from the local imam and we would duly register them for our classes,” said Var, chairman CCA.
The Association while announcing the move said that more coaching centres would be involved to widen their reach. "Initially, we have designated three coaching centres wherein the free crash course would be taught on select days and as the need arises and more coaching centres get involved we would widen this initiative," said Var. The three coaching centres include Kashmir Institute of Excellence (KIE) Parraypora, Crescent Classes Naseembagh, Hazratbal and S N Das Gupta College, Iqbal Park, Srinagar.
The association asked the students from flood affected areas to contact the KIE on 97970303374 and 9906541943, Crescent Classes on 9419022593 and S N Das Gupta College on 9906444320 to avail the benefit of these classes.
"These classes are especially meant for those students be it from government schools or private schools who were affected by the floods and couldn't complete their syllabus midway,” said Var.
Taking consideration of the non-availability of books with these students, the association has also started free book banks at the three coaching centres. ” We have established the free book banks at these three places where students who have lost their books would get a free replacement,” said Var. ”As the time progresses we may be able to provide free stationary like notebooks to students too.”
The association said that it is a small initiative from the coaching centres which is bound to grow in coming days. “We are also asking other coaching centres whose infrastructure is intact to come forward in this initiative so that we are able to reach hundreds of affected students,”said Var.
“The coaching centres wishing to start free classes should contact us and we will publicise their location and timings.”
