Srinagar: A leading telecom company Bharti Airtel has announced special benefits for its subscribers in Kashmir who were unable to access its network for a long period following devastating floods in the region last month. The company announced certain initiatives aimed at ‘enhancing customer convenience’ in the region.
The move comes days after its subscribers approached various media outlets to publicize their protest against it. The users had expressed dismay over company’s inability to restore its services fully in Kashmir that got affected by the floods, though most of the other companies restored their services.
The company has decided to offer free calling to its subscribers for a week starting October 14. However, the offer is valid only for local Airtel to Airtel calling between 11 pm and 6 am. This offer apparently did not please many anguished users some of whom called it rubbish.
The telecom provider also announced 200 MB free data for a week for those customers who had recharged their phones with certain packs but were unable to use the service.
Airtel also announced launch of a dedicated round-the-clock helpline for faster resolution of network related complaints. The helpline can be reached on number 12134.
The company officials claimed to have worked tirelessly in difficult conditions to fully restore its mobile network in the region.
