New Delhi: Datawind, which came into limelight with the Aakash Android tablet, is now planning to launch a smartphone priced at Rs 2,000 with free lifetime internet.
"We are looking forward to launch our Rs 2,000 smartphone and few other devices before Diwali and intent is to double our sales by the end of this calender year," Datawind's executive vice president Rupinder Singh was quoted as saying by PTI.
The company is said to be talking with three mobile operators for the lifetime free Internet offer.
As per the PTI report, the smartphone will come with Android operating system and a 3.5 inch screen. No other information about the handset is available right now but considering its price, one should expect bare minimum hardware configuration.
Datawind currently offers five tablets, under the Ubislate series, in the range of Rs 3,999 to Rs 6,999.
