Srinagar, Feb 25: Parvez Rasool, the first cricketer from Kashmir valley to bag Indian Premier League contract, on Sunday declined report stating that his inclusion into Team India was pushed by the government. The Valley all-rounder said that he is being judged on the basis of his performance and has fair chances to feature in Indian playing eleven.
Talking over phone he said: “I have showed my performance and have definite chance to play for India.” Thanking god he added: “Insha Allah I will make it, nothing is impossible.”
“I don’t want any politics in my game; I don’t know how they bring politics into cricket, I deserve my place in the team,” he said, adding, he was happy with the contract that he signed with Pune Warriors.
His elder brother Asif Rasool said that “it is clear from his performances that he has fair chances of being selected into Indian squad,” adding that “he was always judged on the basis of his talent.”
A report recently had claimed that the government had communicated its desire to the Board of Cricket Control in India (BCCI) for his inclusion even though no one confirmed this on record.
His brother further said: “Our father also used to play cricket, I have also played Ranji. He has played lot of cricket from his early age and has worked very hard to make it to this level, we are happy for him.”
Earlier Rasool picked up 7/45 representing India Board President’s XI against Australia bowling them out for 241 in a warm-up game in Chennai that made his chances into the Indian squad.
Parvez Ghulam Rasool Zargar popularly known as Parvez Rasool hails from Bijbehara, in Anantnag district of South Kashmir is also set to join Pune Warriors for IPL 2013.
In 2012/2013 after his impressive bowling performance in Ranji, he was included in the India A squad to play the warm-up one-day match against England earlier this year with this he became the first cricketer from the Kashmir Valley to be picked for India A.
