Pulwama: To safeguard the rights of Women and Children in the society, an awareness camp was organized by the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Pulwama in collaboration with District Bar Association at Government Degree College (Boys), Pulwama here on Monday.
District Development Commissioner, Pulwama, Shafaat Noor was the chief guest on the occasion, besides Chairman, District Legal Services Committee, who is also the Principal District Sessions Judge, Pulwama, Mohammad Yousuf Wani, presided over the function.
Among others, Chief Judicial Magistrate, Mtr. Masarat Shaheen, Secretary, DLSA, Principal KCEF Law College and President Bar Association were also present on the occasion.
The District Development Commissioner, Pulwama, while speaking on the occasion underscored the role of NGO’s in curbing the hardships being faced by the women folk in the society while discharging their duties, besides ensuring their rights. He also emphasized for the quality education of the girl child so that the talent can be exploited for their socio-economic development. The children are the future of our society and should be guided and educated in a proper way to become respectable citizens, he added.
The Chairman, DLSA during his deliberations emphasized for educating the girl child and minimizing the dropout rate from educational institutions. He urged the social and religious activists to work for the empowerment of women folk and ensure their equal rights.
