Srinagar: Prof. G. M. Mir, a renowned Geographer specializing in Resource Management, has assumed the charge of Director, Area Study Centre (CCAS), University of Kashmir.
Prof. Mir, in addition to Director, Centre of Central Asian Studies, has served the University in different capacities, both academic as well as administrative, and is on various National Panels (Kashmir Chapter). Dr. Mir has to his credit four reputed books and over 50 research papers published in some refereed professional international/national journals. He has completed a number of research projects and is presently working on some emerging regional issues of Central Asia. He has produced dozens of Ph.D./M.Phil. Scholars. Prof. Mir has remained Chief Editor of the Journal of Central Asian Studies and is on the Editorial Advisory Board of some other journals as well.
