Srinagar: An army vehicle ran over a minor near General Bus Stand in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district, sources said on Saturday.
Giving details, sources said, a cyclist Yasir Ahmad son of Mohammad Ayoub resident of Anchidora, Anantnag was hit by an Army vehicle at K.P Road, Anantnag resulting in his on spot death.
The army vehicle was set ablaze by the locals that gathered at the spot. The fire was brought under control by the fire tenders, however, the vehicle got partially damaged in the fire, sources said.
Anantnag police seized the vehicle and has arrested the driver. A case FIR No. 86/2012 under section 279, 304A/RPC has been registered in this regard.
Two policemen were injured and several private cars were damaged when the irate mob pelted stones on them at KP Road. However, the situation was brought under control.
