Srinagar, Jan 05: In a shocking move, Kashmir University authorities have brought in Dr. S. Mufeed of the Business School as the new incharge of Media Education Research Centre, replacing Dr. Shahid Rasool. The students are aghast over the fact that someone from an entirely different faculty has been chosen as the incharge.
“Dr. Shahid has been a great administrator at MERC. We fail to understand how someone from MBA department can do the job better”, said a student from MERC wishing anonymity.
In 2008 in what had been termed as a welcome step by students and scholars at MERC, Dr. Shahid Rasool, Director EMMRC, took over as the incharge of MERC replacing Prof. Mohammad Aslam of the English department. The students aren’t happy with the replacement this time.
“We will protest against this decision. We either want Shahid Sir back or someone from media faculty to be the incharge”, a student said.
Despite repeated attempts, the PRO of the varsity could not be contacted. Further details are awaited.
