Srinagar: While rejecting the joint declaration of Indo-Pak Parliamentarians issued in Islamabad, Hurriyat Conference (G) chairman, Syed Ali Shah Geelani, Sunday claimed that there could be no improvement in relations between the two countries unless Kashmir issue is not settled.
In a statement from New Dehli, Geelani said, “Such conferences and meetings are futile and this speaks of the non-seriousness across the border on Kashmir issue.”
Terming such conferences as a means of entertainment for the retired officers of both the countries, Geelani emphasized the need to solve the Kashmir dispute which according to him was the core issue between the two countries.
“Such resolutions can not overshadow the basic nature of Kashmir dispute,” Geelani asserted.
Accusing both India and Pakistan for turning a blind eye towards Kashmir dispute, he said that some retired officers use K-issue to give vent to their ‘intellect absurdity.’
The Hurriyat (G) chairman said that Kashmir issue was the bone of contention in the sub-continent and needs to be resolved as per the United Nations resolutions.
Geelani warned that peace efforts between the two countries could yield no results unless Kashmir issue was resolved.
Meanwhile, the two day conference of parliamentarians of India and Pakistan ended in Islamabad on Sunday. A joint declaration was also issued at the end of the conference.
